After spending time as a ballet and piano teacher along with singing waiter he was cast an an extra in 1917. By 1922 he continued in extra roles until his starring role in The Prisoner of Zenda (1922). His rising popularity among women gained him the titled of “the New Valentino.” In 1925 he starred in his most widely known role in Hen Bur (1925).
